The Pixel line has always had a camera problem, in the sense that the camera was so good it made everything else look underdeveloped. The Pixel 10 Pro fixes the rest of the package.
The new Tensor G5, manufactured on a 3nm node, is the chip Google’s phone has always needed. Thermal throttling — a persistent embarrassment across four Tensor generations — is no longer observable in sustained workloads.
The computational photography pipeline enables what Google calls “continuous scene reconstruction”: rather than processing each frame independently, the camera maintains a 3D model of the scene between shots. The 8K video at 30fps is real and usable, not a spec sheet feature with asterisks.
Is it the best smartphone camera ever made? It’s very close. The iPhone 16 Pro still edges it in portrait mode consistency. The Pixel 10 Pro edges the iPhone in low-light stills and dynamic range recovery. You will not go wrong with either.
